Abstract

Communication interventions with a participatory approach generate processes of personal agency and empowerment. This is the main conclusion of the Women in Radio project, developed in 2016 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Young women between the ages of 17 and 24, who were linked to the initiative, learned about radio production and defined the topics of the radio programs they shared through podcasts. It was found that the project promoted in the participants’ factors such as self-determination, decision making and knowledge of laws and rights that protect women.
